I was just asked this the other day…
“Why were these classes created?”
Over the years I’ve been observing a missing link that was common both in my life and the lives of other parents.
How do I work out and fit self care into my already full day?
I started to see how I could offer a solution to multiple challenges that many parents face, including myself, when it comes to self care while doing the balancing act called parenting.
During my training I was formulating and creating ways for me to remember all that I was learning and taking in from the course loads by playing with my children, creating games, dances and movement flows. This was helping support their learning plans and meeting educational scopes of their individual grade level, while making a deposit into my memory bank. This gave us a win-win-win and leveled us all up in the area of self responsibility, not mention creating memory moments where we were deeply connecting & bonding.
Now I am excited and passionate about sharing with others and to help other families grow forward by becoming more aware about how our bodies are constantly taking “orders” via our thoughts.
Wiggle Wednesday’s is a brain child solution my creativity faculty called my imagination came up with. With many months of fine tuning, blood sweat, tears and an emotional roller coaster of events… it’s ready to share with others that are ready and even searching for a unique soul to soul connecting class with their children.
Over the past few years my ideas & beliefs about energy have been further supported and confirmed due to science proving how amazing our bodies really are. My thinking and understanding have deepen and raised into higher realms of consciousness. This has granted me the learning space for me to become more reflective, self observational which has resulted me being a better parent and human being.
I am excited to be sharing some insights from a practitioner parent’s view of how the 5 elements have transformed my whole life, it’s deep there lots too it and too far out for some with my gathered during educational travels.
I have always accepted that we were amazing and now with more learning, investing in myself I have witnessed miracles happen before my eyes! One off the topic of head to share right away besides pain in the body disappearing, is expanding my personal development and seeing how I can increase the electrical flow with my body, allowing me to become a better communicator in general and far more patient with myself and others especially with my children.
First off there’s a unspoken “normal” understanding in our industry of specialized kinesiology on how our electrical energy works for us. When it comes to our work, a nourishing conceptual view with how the electrical flow happens in the body on a daily basis transforming through the time and seasons. This inspires me greatly when thinking of how healing, connecting with others and this planet happen regardless of paying attention to it or not. Even for those that are unaware of these concepts, pretty powerful and mind blowing.
Now seeing how playing with the frequencies of electricity within the body by using selective movements from Touch for Health protocols at specific times of day could impact my well being and support my mental growth capacity, I have witnessed much influential shifts occurring with myself, my children and clients.
Time in general has such huge impacts on our bodies, yet I will confess that often I live outside of the parameters of time to lower my stress levels. When I deliberately choose to execute this technique I feel grounded within myself and notice that my stress levels have decreased more than half, sometimes I find my state of being calmer than expected.
It’s like real life magic!
Both my children and clients are amazed with how something so simple like body movement can create such huge impacts on the body and mind. In our field of work, it makes sense to us with our collected knowledge and insights of movement allows the electrical flow to increase naturally inside of us.
This brings my attention and focus to the area of time and how do we honor it on a deeper level so we can celebrate our greatness ?
The idea of time has really created a step stone and held space for me to explore more about how these electrical beings of ours are impacted by time. How time contributes to the recipe of our beings we call “us”. If choreographed movements create an increase of electrical flow in our bodies as such, than what happens when we take a closer look at the time, day, and elemental influence of when we come to be?
Over the years I have always been drawn to seeing the links, patterns and relationships between people. How our personalities are formed and how do we become to like what we like, act how we act and connect the way we do. Studying more about what makes us unique and the same have assisted me in understanding the principle of me being both my problem and my solution in any given moment.
Seeing how “playing attention” to my thoughts first allows me to have control over my emotional electrical flow within myself. Gathering more concepts of what makes me, me has given me a deeper energetic pull down a path to observing more about how the 5 Elements factor in when in comes to my persona constitution. When we look at the traits of each element and how we all carry them within ourselves, how can we determine our primary element ? Well Touch for Health has offered me help as well as looking further into the TCM explanations too.
How I confirmed for myself was honoring the time, the day and elemental energy of when I entered this world. Also looking at that information of others too, this has impacted my ability to connect with others, especially my children. I used to feel so frustrated that out of my children, only one was really challenging my skill set. I was always frustrated with this. At first I just thought it was because we were so alike in personality types and that he was most like me.
On a side note, while pregnant with him I would meditate and visualize features of my unborn baby. I did intend that this second baby of mine would be more like me as my first was always complimented for being a mini version of his father. This would leave me feeling a little sad for not having my features showing up within him, though that was apart of my “ordering” during the first pregnancy.
Back to the honoring of time, day and elemental year of a persons entry to this world. I have gathered much facts from the TCM side of wholistic wellness medicine where they use the pieces of information and create a broad insight of the person. When I did mine, I found out that I was an Earth primary element and reading into the description of what makes an Earth, an Earth my mind was blown and it resonated with me greatly. I continued to see what the rest of my family members were and patterns were adding up so correctly for my experiences.
Now it all made sense why this second son of mine was more of a challenge! Guess why?
His primary element’s mission is to control my element, his little wood roots are supposed to retain my earth energy. Now it made sense why I could at times really feel his “roots” under my skin!
Now I choose to empower myself with this knowledge by applying it to my relationships, using the movements to create the me I want to be, that I am! I now observe these moments of his “root” digging and allow them to flow, taking in what I can learn about me rather than feeling like it’s a negative occurrence like I used to. My other children are either in a feeding cycle with me, where I am nourishing them or vice versa. Since gaining this knowledge about the 5 elements my parenting has transformed into a learning experience where my mind is open and ready to explore, empower and let the electrical flow be supported with movement, love and joy!
I really appreciate this old knowledge from the 5 elements, it’s over 3000 years old and it’s time that it’s shared with more parents, practitioners and human beings. I believe it holds the keys to many locked doors. While completing this article for your reading enjoyment I found these images to help explain the traits of each element compliments of www.mienshiang.com

When thinking about why play is so important, Maggie Reigh says it best with the following article below or read on her site here
Most of us parents have been conditioned to focus on correcting our child’s behavior… which damages our relationship and simply frustrates both of us. Now I’m not saying that you don’t need to set guidelines, parameters and teach your child how to function effectively in all kinds of group settings. However, your child is most likely to LISTEN to you if they WANT to listen. It’s like the old saying goes, “They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” When we really connect with our children, in the spirit of play, they know how much we care. The only true authority we have with them is that which they give us, based on our connection with them. Connecting with your child will set you up to be the true authority… the natural “go to” not “run from” person in their lives! If you can just realize that connecting with your child is more important than correcting your child, you will create mutual respect and harmony in your relationship.
Play offers the optimum opportunity to connect. Play is also our child’s optimum state of learning. There is a wonderful story in Michael Mendizza and Joseph Chilton Pearce’s book entitled Magical Child Magical Parent, which exemplifies how important it is to get into the stream of play with our children to most effectively educate them. It is a story (which I may have embellished in the retelling!) of a man who decides to teach his child how to kick a soccer ball.
The man’s five-year old son is so excited that Dad is taking the time to play outside with him. But, when the two of them go outside, the child doesn’t want to kick the soccer ball. In a state of pure play, he wants to pounce on the ball, roll with the ball, LICK the ball, but he doesn’t want to kick the ball! His exasperated father grows increasingly impatient with his son. After all, he brought him outside to teach him how to kick the ball. What will the other soccer moms and dads think if his kid doesn’t learn to kick?
The authors of the book point out that this child starts out this adventure in the spirit of play. One-hundred percent of his attention is flowing into his business of play. He is in his optimum learning state. However, as he senses his dad’s impatience and annoyance, he starts to transfer some of his attention to his dad. After all, this adult means everything to him, and he doesn’t want to make him angry. So now a good portion of his attention is transferred to pleasing Dad. The boy learns to try to kick the soccer ball for his dad.
Being able to get onside with our child and join him in the stream of play is indeed an art. The joy and the value of connecting are priceless. When we can join with our child in this state of optimum learning we can gradually lead him to learn the valuable skills that we have to teach, and then we all gain so much! Few adults had parents who taught us in this manner and most of us feel awkward and inadequate with this concept. The good news is, it’s never too late to learn and, luckily, if you are a parent, grandparent or involved aunt or uncle, you have a willing teacher – your child.
Next time your child is playing, allow yourself to simply become curious about the play consciousness that she is in. Ask her if you can join her and remember to let her lead! Stay open and curious about the process and do everything you can to simply stay in the moment and share her world respectfully. Match her body language and see what you can learn from it. If you hear your inner critique pulling you away from the situation, insisting that there are “more important matters to take care of,” or telling you how silly this is, simply ask yourself if that inner critic is helping you or hurting you in your overall life plan.
If you are experiencing behavior problems with your child, it may just be that your child is crying out for this kind of real connection. Studies out of the University of Washington indicate that parents that spend 15 minutes a day engaged in this state of play with their child substantially decrease a wide range of behavioral and learning problems.
Don’t think that the only time you can play with your children is when they are young! As George Bernard Shaw says, “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing!” In my Playshops I have seen moms and daughters of all ages connect through play, in ways they hadn’t thought possible.
Here we have an opportunity to suspend our busy and cluttered adult agenda and absorb the free flow state of play that our child naturally experiences if we don’t interfere. It is a state of being that can be life enhancing for all.
Do yourself and your child a favor for life and resolve to suspend your busy schedule long enough to playfully connect with your child every day. It’s a great way to have fun together , relieve stress and build memories that last a lifetime!
